Dr. Geert De Naeyer, MD is a Senior Consultant/ Staff Member at the Urology Department of the Onze-Lieve- Vrouw Clinic Aalst, Belgium since 2010. He graduated from medical school in 2001 at the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium. He was trained in Urology at the OLV-Clinic in Aalst and at the Urology Department of the Ghent University. He fulfilled international fellowships at the Urology Departments of the Radboud University in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, and Universitätsklinikum, Eppendorf in Hamburg, Germany.
He is a Fellow of the European Board of Urology (FEBU) since 2009. His major interests are minimally invasive and robotic surgery, as well as laser surgery in urology. He has also pioneered the HOLEP technique in the Benelux since 2010. He has participated in many publications, has authored textbook chapters, and given many lectures on robotic surgery in Urology. He served as an editorial board member for the Journal of Robotic Surgery and is also a reviewer for several scientific journals in the field of robotics. He has performed live-surgeries during different international meetings and congresses. He is also involved as a trainer for robotic surgery at the ORSI Academy and has proctored the start-up of several robotic centers all over Europe. He also is giving courses for the European School Of Urology (ESU) and has served as president for the YAU (Young Academic Urologist) Robotic Working Group and is now an associate member of the EAU Robotic Urology Section (ERUS). He is since many years a board member of the Belgium Laparoscopic Urology Group (BLUG, working group of Belgian Association of Urology).
As he is a strong believer in evidence based medicine, he is a member of the Examination Committee of the European Board of Urology (EBU).
