Prof. Dr. Benoit Lengelé

Prof. Dr. Benoit Lengelé is a prominent Belgian surgeon, recognized globally for his pioneering work in facial transplantation. He led the surgical team that performed one of the world’s first full face transplants in 2005, a groundbreaking procedure that brought him international acclaim. With expertise in craniofacial surgery, plastic and reconstructive surgery, Prof. Lengelé has significantly advanced the field of reconstructive medicine, particularly in the restoration of facial functions after trauma, disease, or congenital defects.

As a professor at Université catholique de Louvain (UCLouvain), he is dedicated to both clinical practice and academic research.
