Prof. Dr. Luigi Maria Cavallo

Luigi Maria Cavallo MD, PhD received his medical degree cum laude, in 1996 at the “Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II” and completed his Residency in Neurosurgery cum laude in 2001. In 2004, he obtained PhD degree in “Surgical sciences and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic technologies”.

Since 2002, he works as neurosurgeon at the Federico II University Hospital in Naples. He becomes Assistant professor in 2012, Associate professor in 2018 and full Professor from 2022.
Research activity has been focused, predominantly, on: endoscopic endonasal pituitary and skull base surgery. He has experience in surgically treating with the endoscopic approach over 2500 intracranial tumors including pituitary adenomas, craniopharyngiomas, meningiomas, clival chordomas and other rarer lesions.

He is author of more than 300 publications on peer-reviewed international journal and of 43 book chapters (h-index: 54; source: Web of Science). Invited lecturer in more than 100 International courses, meetings and congresses. He is Associate editor of Neurosurgery, and serves as scientific board member of many of the international scientific Journal in the field of Neurosurgery.
